![]() Reports surfaced in May 2009 that General Motors planned to eliminate the Cobalt SS as early as December 2009, but they proved to be untrue. At first release in 2004, the supercharged version was praised for its performance but drew criticism for its interior quality and exterior styling, both described as too reminiscent of its predecessor, the Cavalier. In a 2013 review, journalist Patrick George called it the best compact car ever made by General Motors, and a potential "future classic". The Cobalt SS received generally positive reviews, particularly the turbocharged and supercharged versions. Production of the supercharged coupe continued until 2007, and after a brief hiatus the SS relaunched in the second quarter of 2008 with a more efficient and powerful turbocharged 2.0 L engine producing 260 hp (194 kW 264 PS) before all Cobalt production ended in 2010. The following year, a naturally aspirated 1SS model equipped with GM's new 2.4 L 171 hp (128 kW 173 PS) engine was added in both coupe and sedan body styles, including automatic and manual transmission options. The Cobalt SS was GM's first foray into the tuner market, launching as a 205 hp (153 kW 208 PS) supercharged 2.0 L coupe in late 2004, paired only with the Saab F35 5-speed manual transmission. ![]() SS is an abbreviation of Super Sport, a historic moniker used by Chevrolet to denote high performance upgrades that meet certain criteria. ![]() The three versions included two forced induction inline-four Ecotec engines and a third naturally aspirated engine that was later called the Cobalt Sport. I'm better off building a MUSTANG.The Chevrolet Cobalt SS comprises three sport compact versions of the Chevrolet Cobalt that were built on the General Motors Delta platform at Lordstown Assembly in Ohio, United States. So I don't want to put any more money into this build, I had nothing but bad luck. the guy I bought it from said he spun a rod bearing, I think the guy I got it from had bought the car off the auction because he own a small dealership.so the car came with the supercharger and the trans in the trunk, someone had already pulled the supposly blown motor, so 2 months after i bought the roller, I luckily came across a 2.0 LSJ supercharged motor that came off a black 06 SS/sc, now I thought the rest was easy to put together, I was still missing lots of parts from the roller, Cv axles, spindles, front calipers, rotors, brakes, the keys, (the previous owner screwed me with the keys)and all the bolts and nuts were all missing, I also had to buy new clutch from Chevrolet that wasn't cheap, and I also bought the rest of the engine accessories.now I had 2 mechanics that screwed me over, I gave them a down payment and never came back. That's not an LSJ trans, it's an F23What's an f23? that's what they gave me when I bought the roller, also came with a ported blower that had a 2.7zzp pulley. If you are serious to look at it let me know I have 2 other fast cars and I never got around to finish this car is missing to many bolts including engine mounds and transmission bolts. The car is located in a facility 20minutes away from my house. aftermarket 18 inch wheels with bald tires.Comes with after market air to water intercooler. The roller comes with full recaro interior that is in perfect condition.Note: I also have a Roller: 2006 Chevy cobalt SS with over 70k on the body, Call/text to make arrangements so I can show you the motor I do not have it at my house but it is 15minutes away. I'm selling everything that I listed above ^^^^^^^ for: $1600 Selling: 2.0 LSJ supercharged engine that Came off a (wrecked) black 2006 cobalt SS with 68k miles.Įngines comes with: everything needed for install
